Private Household Management

In addition to our international hospitality skills expertise, The English Manner has become synonymous with the concept of Household Standards training and management and we offer comprehensive services for all aspects of a client's lifestyle.

For Private Households and Estates, our methods are very similar. We will conduct detailed assessments of the current state of play and perceived needs, developing a complete staff plan for all aspects of the household or estate, job descriptions and training programmes for the highest standards in household and crew operations. As a natural progression to our service, we will assist with recruitment where necessary, develop an inventory system and ongoing management services with a unique Household Standards Manual, and conduct regular refresher training and reviews within the household. Our service is total and our methods are designed to ensure that our relationships with clients and guests are long lasting.

Our service is bespoke and our methods, recommendations and techniques vary from client to client, changing to suit each one's needs.

Please feel free to contact us and we can assist you further.

What our clients say...

We have long been of the view that the success of any cruise – charter or private – ultimately depends on the quality of the crew. We have identified a need for advanced training of domestic staff over and above the standard normally available and sought a variety of training resources ranging from Swiss finishing schools to individual consultancies, and found all our needs catered for by Alexandra. She has carried out a range of training courses herself or using her own people, ranging from advanced laundry and interior cleaning / fabric care, to etiquette and service tuition for all yacht staff. We found the services offered by The English Manner to be a complete success with our clients - in some cases immediately appreciated by our private owners, and now offer this to all our clients as a matter of course. We wholeheartedly endorse The English Manner.

The Household Academy

Launched in 2010 as a joint venture between The English Manner and Diana Mather of Public Image, The Household Academy provides exceptional training in domestic arts, child-care, cookery, housekeeping and crew service and is part of The English Manner. The academy runs several courses throughout the year in Cheshire, London or Somerset.

Courses range from the 6-day Housekeeping course, aimed at those wishing to enter the professional household industry, to the 1-day Domestic Bliss course, perfect for newlyweds, house-husbands, or housewives who wish to brush up on their existing knowledge.

Charles MacPherson Associates

As a natural progression to our service, The English Manner has formed an informal partnership with Charles MacPherson Associates Inc, who is leading the way in service tuition in Canada and the USA. We have decided to work with them for several specific projects to give us each an expanded and strengthened delivery capability in the hospitality and service etiquette marketplace. Located in Toronto, the Charles MacPherson Academy is staffed by professional instructors, including John Robertson, providing a comprehensive programme which covers every aspect of household management and leading to a Certificate for Butlers and Household Managers.
