The Household Academy
Courses available
Formed in October 2010, The Household Academy provides exceptional training in domestic arts, child-care, cookery, housekeeping and crew service, and is the result of a joint venture between leading international consultancies The English Manner and Public Image, with overseas partners, Charles MacPherson Associates.
Suitable for a wide range of age groups from the age of 16 years upwards, courses are especially suited to those who wish to perfect the skills required for a career as a private housekeeper, au pair, private nanny, house manager, butler, chambermaid, chalet girl or yacht and private plane service.
Programmes are intended to encourage everyone from gap year students to ex-service personnel; those currently working in private households who require a little savoire-faire, new mothers or those with recalcitrant toddlers or teenagers who do not know how to cope. Even the newly married may benefit, perhaps as a quirky wedding present!
Accommodation
For all courses we are able to offer a few rooms on-site at £60-per-night bed & breakfast. These are booked out on a first-come-first-served basis.
Details on how to book one of our comfortable rooms, as well as a list of preferred suppliers for near-by accommodation, is included with each booking.
